MT75 clutch arm mod
Hello all,
I may well be ousted for not being a locost builder (ye)t but it's next on my list of things to do!
I am putting a Mk2 escort together from a bare shell. I have chosen a 1.8 zetec and an MT75 gearbox, this combination has led me here as it seems a
popular choice. And there seems to be much more knowledge on this combination here than other forums.
I am sticking with the Zetec clutch and flywheel and understand that I need to either buy or make a spaced release bearing or buy a kit from GBS that
allows the flucrum point to be moved on the release arm.
Has anybody here done this? If so would they be so kind as to give a brief description of what's involved? Or a link to the relevant thread as
i've scored a blank so far.
Any input greatly welcomed.
Thanks in advance,
Alan

I went for the longer pin from GBS. (It's not a kit, just a pin)
Drive out the old pin from the gearbox using a screwdriver and hammer. You can get to the back of the pin from the outside of the bellhousing, so
it's dead simple to do. Then drive in the new one from inside the bellhousing with a hammer, using a drift & some copperslip.
Whole job takes less than a minute.

Thanks Turnipfarmer,
That does sound easy, how much did the pin cost you? Is the gearbox installed with the clutch working correctly?
Thanks,
Alan

Hi Alan
£12 from GBS here -----> http://www.kitspares.co.uk/shop/item.php?product=9025
Bit dear for what it is maybe, but worth it for the complete lack of effort compared with other solutions.
My gearbox is bolted onto the engine, but not installed in the car yet (next weekend hopefully!)
Can't see any reason why it shouldn't work, once the clutch cable has been properly adjusted.
Other people seem OK with it, & GBS use it all the time on their production cars, so should be perfectly fine.
Regards
David

Great, many thanks for your replies.
I'll get and order one now. Was about to begrudgingly hand over £70 to Westfield for one of their modified bearings so i'm very happy!
Cheers,
Alan
