K Series Throttle Bodies
Hi All
I have a set of bike throttle bodies and a K Series with plastic inlet manifold.
The inlet manifold nearest the head looks like the runners are straight and round. Does anybody know if anybody has successfully cut / machined this
to take bike throttle bodies?
Ta in advance

I also have an alloy inlet manifold (on a BRM engine) which looks similar although the intake runners look much bigger (about the same bore as the
TBs)!

If you want to go this route I'd suggest finding an alloy VVC manifold (this was my plan when I was considering a K series a while back). Even
if you can't mate the TB's directly to the manifold runners, you could get some suitable stubs welded to them.

Thanks Mike
I've got an alloy one on a BRM (VVC) engine - not sure if the manifold can be welded (cast?), but I'm going to pull it off today and have
a look.

Oops, missed the bit about the BRM manifold, that's certainly the one I would be looking at using.
There is usually no problem with cast alloy components being welded, thing get difficult when you have to weld cast iron.
In fact it's possible to "weld" alloy using special low temperature alloy rods and a decent blow lamp, though a bit of practice is
needed.

Cheers Mike
I have used aluminium 'welding' rods in the past but don't think I have the skills to do the manifold - I'll pull it off
later and start measuring it!

cast manifolds manifolds often have a clear layer coating, anodising or similar that impedes welding. Give the area around the weld area a thorough
grinding to get to virgin ally before commencing

Thanks
My friend had a look at this afternoon and he can do it! :-)
