DGAV on x Flow

Is it safe to block the fuel return outlet on a DGAV carb or would I be advised to run a return pipe all the way back to my tank? If I do need to could I just feed it into the filler neck above the tank or would that cause back pressure in the return pipe as the fuel would have to effectively go 'up hill'. Not that it makes any difference I suppose but the carb is fitted to a 1300 x flow.

I can't see it as a problem, I've seen loads with the return blocked. I ran a return line, but only because I intended to go injection at some point.
