Oil for type 9 gearbox

I read lots of post here regarding type 9 oil.

The best I could find is Liqui Moly HIGH PERFORMANCE GEAR OIL GL4+ | 75W90.

It is supposed to comply with Ford ESD M2C 175-A.

What do you think of it?

Thanks!

Burton performance quote GL4 to be used with the type 9's they supply, so what you quote sounds about right.

Thank you very much.

This is the spec sheet, I think Liqui Moly products in general are very good:

API GL4+ is supposed to comply with GL4/GL5. Now I read GL5 is not good for synchronizers, but the Ford ESD M2C 175-A compliance is a strong argument I think...

Using oils containing Molybdenum disulfide or graphite or teflon in gearboxes can reduce rubbing friction to such an extent it prevents the synchromesh from working effectively. When changing gear synchromesh depends on a sufficient degree of friction between the synchroiser ring and the grear to speed up or slow down the gear as it engages.

Stick to plain GL4 or engine oil or auto-tranmission fluid or and MTF.

Use a decent quality GL4 spec oil

DONT use a GL5 spec oil whatever you do or it'll end in tears...

Continue looking what I can find nearby and found this:

Castrol 75W85 in API GL4, looks promising. What do you think?

I wish I could find comma oil here I'm in South America and options are limited to some ELF, Castrol, Liqui Moly and not much more in GL4 specification.

Thanks!

I found another oil that should work in the type 9, it's german made:

I think is semi-synth and API GL3/4.

What do you think?
