Where can I buy a reconditioned pinto engine
Does anyone know of any suppliers of reconditioned 2.0 pinto engines and an idea of prices.

To be right honest you really only need a short engine.
Me I would just run what I had unless it knocks or smokes.
Jems engines oop north £395+
Vulcan, Thurstons, darn sarf Burtons if you are rich

why not use this opportunity to fit something more modern, like a zetec, plentiful, cheap, lighter.

Trying to do it as cheap as possible. Basically I bought a prebuilt locost kit car but it's turned out the engine is knackered. I first thought
it was just a warm camshaft but it's turned out to be a worse problem. I have already spent nearly £400 on cam kit, gaskets, oil filters etc. I
just want to get the car running and get some enjoyment out of it!

What is wrong with it?
Shouldn't be too hard to fix - pintos are pretty easy to work on.

Think it's bent a couple of valves. Not got enough of a clue how I fix it myself and thought it maybe cheaper and easier just to replace it like

Whip the head off and have a look. If the pistons are ok a local machine shop should be able to sort out the head for you then pop it back on and you
are away.
Or did this happen after you fitted the cam etc?

they are dead easy to work on - ideal first engines if you want to learn how to re-build them yourself
I've collected a few bits and bobs of information on rebuilding and tunning them that I can send you (u2u me your e-mail address)
if you really don't want to rebuild it yourself then the altenative is pay a builder to do it for you (at something like ~£250 + parts and
machining)
so a good used engine could work out much cheaper than that and might have a few upgrades thrown in with it too

If the pistons are okay, I've got a spare 2.0 head (standard, carb, not-unleaded) in the garage.
