Gearbox extension
Hi. My mates got a Tiger 6. Pinto and type 9 box in it. He wants to move the gear stick rearward so bought an extension to do so. The one he bought
does not fit into the gearbox. The bit on the extension is to small. It does not look like the bit on the gear stick. He sent it back and has just
bought one from Rally Design and its the same. Are there two different sizes of shaft on the type 9 box. Any help would be quite welcome.Cheers Steve.

Should fit a type-9? Some piccies might help.
The end of the extension fork should just fit over the existing shaft. It just replaces the action of the gear lever. Then the gear lever sits on the
end of the extension.

Sounds to me like he hasn't got a type 9 box.

All of the extensions I've seen require the core plug at the rear of the box to be removed followed by the "saddle" at the rear of
the selector shaft, the shaft extension then fits to the selector shaft, the extension plate bolts on to the original gear lever location, the saddle
the fits to the rear of the extended selector shaft then the gear lever is refitted. Simple

thanks for the replies. The fork on the gearstick has a gap of 9.5mm which fits on the shaft in the gearbox. The new extension, the gap on the fork is
6.5mm. Which doesnt fit over the shaft in the gearbox.

As said in previous post, It looks like your friend has not removed the plastic saddle that sits over the pin in the gearbox and needs removing and
transferring to the same location on the extension.
