Xflow clutch flywheel query
Hi guys,
I'm looking at buying a 1660xflow engine from a user of the forum.
The engine currently has an ap racing clutch assembly for a type 9 gearbox. My car is running the mk2 escort engine from a 1300cc car, would I be
able to keep my current gearbox with this clutch / flywheel assembly?
Worst case scenario could I remove the ap racing clutch assembly and fit the flywheel and clutch from my 1300 xflow unit? It's important that
I keep my current gearbox.
Kind regards
James

Differnet Ford gearboxes have a differnet number of splines on the input shaft which makes it necessary to fit a matching clutch plate. The type 9
uses a different plate to that used with the 4 speed Escort type 2 box (if that is what you have). Might be easier just to take the flywheel and
clutch off the 1300 and reusue it.
Add to that what are you using the car for? on the road an AP racing clutch is pretty horrid.

Thank you for your reply Paul.
It's just going to be a road car so my plan is to remove the ap racing clutch and flywheel from the new engine and use my 1300xflow flywheel,
clutch and mk2 escort gearbox.
So using my existing parts with the new engine will not be a problem?

Correct.
Ensure that you use new flywheel bolts and preferably new clutch bolts as well.
