rear exit exhaust
Having been picked up for noise a number of times at Goodwood I made the decision to get another can (small) fitted to the car. The choice was to
exit from the side as normal and then have another silencer facing forward on the outside of the pod or....To fit a small can in the rear bodywork and
have the exhaust exit from the rear of the car.
Well the car is back from Fury Sportscars and we went for choice no2
I think it looks alright and is certainly quieter than before.

Nice and neat, I like it.

I don't suppose you could shed some light on the pipe routing from front to back? I want to consider a rear exit exhaust from whatever enclosed
bodywork is available at the time of me completing the chassis, but I could do with some advice on routing.
I did consider underneath the car, tucked into the transmission tunnel somehow but I'm not sure there's enough room.

So the exhaust is on the passenger side and the main can is in the sidepod. It now goes up (rather than to the side as previously) and follows the
the top of the wheel arch over the live axle. It then joins to a 12" silencer this is pointing down (the shiny exhaust bit in the photos is the
end of the new can). We used flexy pipes from Jetex for the run over the wheel which makes the whole thing much easier.

That's excellent, thanks. Not just for the description, but making me aware that there is such a thing as flexible exhaust pipe, that is very
useful!!

Surprised you didn't go for a "blown diffuser".
Looks like a neat job, it will be interesting to hear how many dB have you gained/lost?

The new exhaust points at the diffuser (when fitted) for the full (pub) coanda effect....
Not sure on the dB loss until we get back to Goodwood on the 3rd Aug.

Good luck.
The pointing down at the rear (rather than pointing at the sound meter) should help too I guess.

Very neat indeed - did toy with the idea of rear exit on my old car, but a pair of pipes and the amount of pipe bending involved persuaded me not
to.

I have a small front splitter....I think it is the rear rubber type strip of a 3 series BMW, it was there when I bought the car.
I'll take some plumbing photos when I have the rear wheels off..

And this is the front splitter (which isn't really a splitter but it helps)
