Registering engine change with DVLA
I seem to remember reading a year or so ago that new requirements for registering engine changes had come into force. As I recall it a receipt with
engine number and some kind of letter from a garage or MoT station are now needed. Anyone got experience or know for sure?
( In the case of a like for like change I doubt that anyone would know or care but if you turn up for an MoT with more cylinders in your car than it
had last year complications may arise - I want to avoid this scenario! )

I think that the receipt and garage confirmation is if emissions or road tax costs are altered,or a new build
If your replacing like for like i would think its just engine no they are interested in
Might be worth calling your local dvla office as info can vary from office to office
Ive just put a zetec in place of a cvh so will be doing the same

I have just changed my 1297cc crossflow for a 3947cc V8. Sent the ebay receipt with a photo of the engine number.
I was expecting trouble but it all came back good, they even sent the photo back!

Engine change
Yes i had this last year when i changed from 1800 zetec to 2000 zetec, i used the letter from ford technical which stated the engine number year of
fitment to vehicle on Fords production line.
This was letter from Fords was accepted in copy form, i presume other manufacturers have the same facility as Ford.
My request to Fords technical was originally to date the engine for emission purposes in the event the engine would be used at SVA/IVA.
If it is Ford you need i will try and fins the address.
Hope this helps.

That's handy as i did use the original phone number 11/12 years ago and was not too happy with the cost for 5 minutes of hanging about.

Thanks for the above. In fact since posting I have done a Google search ( should have done that first I suppose! ) and the DVLA site confirms my
recollection. Dementia deferred!

When I went from a 3.5 V8 to a 4.3 earlier this year, I filled in the V5 and sent it back with only the hand written receipt I got from the original
owner. That stated the engine number and the reg of the TVR it came from. I got the updated V5 back a couple of weeks later.
