40kg engine, 400HP!
http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1086869_nissan-reveals-zeod-rcs-400-hp-3-cylinder-engine-confirms-2015-lmp1-entry
New engine from Nissan for Le Mans, 1.5 litre 3 cylinder turbo.
Looks like it'd fit quite nicely and leave anything Busa powered in the dust.

Doubt the new engine will be similar in price to a new Zetec.

Can't really tell from the photo but that looks like an interesting construction.
From the shape of the castings it looks like the pistons run in the head and the head is bolted on from underneath probably with the main cap bolts.

Strikingly similar to the Offenhauser engine! Same construction. The Offy produced 770BHP from 2.65L in 1970!

It's a Triumph bike engine with all the fat trimmed off
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Agreed - looks very interesting.
From the photo, you can't really see any machine lines - only when you look at the sump plate on the bottom.
If it is a turbo engine with that sort of power, you think that they may have had to put the entire compression/expansion volume into the head so they
could deal with the cylinder pressures?
I think they have also commented that some exotic materials have been used as well.
Just have to wait for Racecar Engineering to detail it.
"If I knew what I was doing then it wouldn't be called research would it?...duh!"

Says on the post:
"engine weighs just 88 pounds, which means a human is quite capable of carrying it (turbocharger and all)"
Including turbo charger as well... Pretty light!!

Depends on if 'k' means "£1000" or "1000 grams"
