some days it all goes pants

So,

Not feeling very well, I thought I'd do a simple job - put the kingspan in the curing oven and test the oven/PID. No such luck. The original sizings I had dreamt up were nothing like the new oven configuration. So, I didn't have enough kingspan. None of the DIY stores in Harrogate have enough, and the builders merchants are closed. So ... scrap that job.

Second I thought - well... I could coat the fuel tank in high-build; that's a satisfying job and not one I've done before. Then I remembered I haven't got an airline running out to shedopolis yet; great! A nice simple job, just unroll my three 15m airlines, see which end-connectors I need and Bob's your uncle Fred's special friend. No such luck - I need an airline with a female end, and the only piece of hose I have left doesn't have threaded ends, just cut (for fitting m-2-m connectors).

Raking through my airline drawer doesn't yield a solution. By now the shops are shut, so that option is a closed door.

So, I thought, seize a simple job - clean out my expanding foam gun ... I screw the gun onto the cleaner and relax the nozzle a bit. Pull the trigger - nothing. I unscrew and look and see the non-return ball bearing in the mount; No worries I think; I'll just poke that bearing to see if it's stuck. Poke ... face full of expanding foam.

Luckily my eye-closing reflex works well, and I didn't get an eye-full. This explains why the gun was clogged - I needed to undo the setting more to give more force to get the cleaner through. So, straight into the house to get the foam off my face, hair, forehead and eyebrows. Acetone cleans it off - not something I'm especially comfortable rubbing near my eyes.

So, a totally unproductive day, and a near miss with a face full of foam.

Some days you just have to walk away and concede that this is the time when you're not going to do anything right. Better to admit defeat and come back refreshed another day...

As you may have guessed - been there, done that!

I would suggest, go and make a cup of tea. But, in this case, it just might be best to ask someone else, nicely, to make one for you.
