Zetec fault codes
Hi guys,
I have just got my blacktop zetec running in my car on standard ECU.
I've just read the fault codes to check there's nothing bad going on.
I have the following:
P0135 - O2 sensor (not fitted)
P0443 - Evap purge
P1504 - IAC Valve (not fitted)
I'm assuming that these faults won't cause any adverse to the engine running?
Regards
Andy

As above, expect other codes once the car completes a drive cycle.

I have already driven the car (although not hugely) and those are the codes i've got for now!
In regards to the o2 sensor, how does the ECU use it?
I'm guessing it monitors the exhaust and adjusts fuelling to suit?
Also, just to make sure i'm not going mad, this is the same thing as the lambda sensor right?
Cheers,
Andy

Hi Guys,
So i still have these three codes.
I have got a lambda sensor now connected, but am still getting the error.
Are there supposed to be two o2 sensors on the zetec?
Also the Evap purge valve, do i actually need this on the car?
cheers,
andy

Depends on age. But no you shouldn't have pre and post cats. Either you have a wiring fault or the sensor is past it.
As Bt says you will get a couple more codes when its driven a bit. Vss being one but along with the purge it wont be in limp home.

whats the code now you have one fitted ? There could be a few possibility's, sensor itself or the heating circuit.

P0043 if its the purge valve as per your first post ? It will be on as you haven't got one.
For the st170 I fitted a dummy load to get rid of that code.
O2 sensor has four pins three to the ecu two for the sensor and one for the heater switched earth. The fourth pin is the switched 12v supply for the
heater.
Cheers
