Suitable flywheels

I have a 2ltr blacktop zetec engine which was originally an auto. Am I right to say it is a zetec E engine. Anyway I have sourced a flywheel from a 1.8 ltr engine and was wanting to know if the starter motor from the auto flex plate will work with the manual flywheel. I already know about the crank sensor housing having to be changed.

Yep zetec E.

What gear box ? If it's a T9 or T5 then no none of the front wheel drive starters fit. The starter bolts to the gear box not the engine so you need to look to wards what was on the gearbox.

Over here with a T9 you would usea starter from a cvh Sierra or a dohc Sierra / Granada.

The starter from a pinto engined car can be used with a spacer.

Hey Wasa good to hear from you again. I will be using a t5 gearbox and using an adaptor plate between the block and bellhousing. The starter I have I can bolt
To the adaptor plate, hence the reason why I needed to know if the auto flex plate and the 1.8ltr flywheel are the same as far as the diameter and ring gear are concerned.

^^ I take it that means you've got a 'world class' (ie the one they use on V8's etc) T5 rather than the sierra cossie version ?
