Acoustafil

So I've got a re-packable silencer, and have bought some Acoustafil PTX to re-pack it ahead of Blyton on Thursday.

My silencer is a 6" silencer, with 2" perf tube, and 600mm long. According to their calculator (http://www.thermalvelocity.co.uk/calc/calculator2.html) I need 1.88m, so I ordered 2m. It arrived today, and each 1m roll is 5" in diameter rolled up as shipped.

When you look at pictures such as this one: -

It seems to suggest a very loose wrap before it expands. As far as I can see, even half of what I need will be a tight fit before it heats up!

Has any one any experience of this, and how much would you expect to use in a typical 6" silencer?

Thanks

Simon

This thread will help, I had the same problem, you probably need just over 1/2 of what you have.

There calculator is rubbish - I have plenty of spare to repack in the future having ordered what there calculator told me I would need! I made it look nominally like the 'before' photo, and it worked a treat.
