Scooter performance question
I've noticed a reduction in acceleration off the line from my scooter engined trike. Once you've got going it's fine. What might
cause this? If the V belt was worn, would it do this? Perhaps it can't get the lowest "gear" any more.

Gunk in the rollers? Belt would have to be well stretched to cause it.
Check the rollers and ramps are nice and clean and free first.

I had a Gilera Runner 180 and extended motorways use did cause the clutch to get too hot and the friction material to become glazed over. A gentle
sanding did sort it out but always came back!
Extra weight if the trike makes the clutch more likely to slip, more heat, more slip, more heat.....

It's only when pulling away. Once I get over 20 MPH or so, everything is fine. If it was clutch slip, I'd expect to see higher revs.
There is some extra weight though. It's like having a permanent pillion rider. Nothing more than it should be able to cope with, but more
often than usual.

I've just had the belt and rollers replaced on my daily rider scooter and it has made a huge difference to pulling away, it has a lot more
"go".
This is after only 6500miles and nearly 3 years of commuting.
