Hydraulic Clutch Feel and Travel
Apologises for the stupid question, but all the cars in the house have a cable clutch.
Getting the hydraulic clutch setup on my Duratec. Have bled the system, both manually and with an easibleed and there is no more air coming out. If I
turn the prop you can feel the clutch disengaging about halfway down the pedal travel. The pedal itself is very hard to move by hand, but feels very
light under foot. It also travels easily for about 90% of the travel and then gets stiffer in the last 10%. The pedal uses the full travel of the M/C
every time.
Is it normal for the pedal to use the full travel?

Hyd clutch in my VRS and her in doors VXR feel the same the full pedal travel, doesn't go stiffer near the end.
Have you got a mismatch between mc and slave capacity?
Or need a pedal stop fitted?
No expert but at a guess I would think that when the pedal goes stiffer your slave cylinder is fully out, so your last 10% of pedal travel is doing
nothing and just risking blowing some seals?

Sounds like you've got too much travel and it's over-throwing the clutch. Once the pressure plate has moved it's full range things
start to feel stiff as you're forcing it further.
Either fit a smaller bore master cylinder (which will also make it lighter) or a pedal stop to restrict the throw.

Have you fitted the required spacer behind the slave cylinder i.e. between master cylinder and Bell housing mine is a12mm thick one?
Duratec Engine is fitted, MS2 Extra V3 is assembled and tested, engine running, car now built. IVA passed 26/02/2016

You need a pedal stop, you have too much travel on the slave cylinder. I had a similar problem on mine and just fitted an adjustable stop to get it
just right.

As above you need a pedal stop.
You may need a spacer aswell depending on your set-up.

Thanks everyone, have modified the old cable clutch stop to suit the new pedal.
On the spacer front my bellhousing (of unknown origin) seems to have extra meat in and when I test fitted it there was at least 20mm of compression of
the clutch slave so I have not fitted a spacer. As I said the clutch disengages about halfway down the pedal travel.
