Zetec blacktop timing belt tension

Evening all. Was sorting an issue with alternater today with my tiger R6 when I noticed the pointer on the tension pulley for timing belt was a bit below where I think it should be. Should it be up at the middle of the indicator that sits behind it? Its a black top zetec. Having no previous experience with these engines was just wanting to double check.
Cheers

The engine needs to be at TDC for the indicator to mean anything. If yours was in any old position i.e. just where the engine stopped its meaningless.

Alternatively start the engine and watch the pointer, its wobbles about a bit but the mean should be in the centre.

Remember these are with a cold engine.

Thanks for reply Paul. Checked at TDC and its sitting just below where I think it should be. When engine is running its still a bit below so think I might tension up the pulley a bit.
