Post winter woes... zetec won't run..
So winter work was to plug the type 9 oil leaks which hopefully I have. Successfully done...however after putting the engine back in the car (st170)
it now runs like a bag of s*** as they say... It's running on a dta so I was able to test electrically that the. Injectors fire and there is a
spark although not convinced its as good as it can be... It runs but it sounds as is its mot firing on every power stroke and through the throttle
bodies on cylinder 1 & 2 it's blowing back.... But not on 3 & 4. Checked the inlet valves and they are not sticking...
The only thing I did wrong putting it back in was connecting the engine ground to a painted part of the block.. starter turned over no problem even
with the ground badly connected and it does sort of run...
I have corrected the ground but the problem remains...
Any bright ideas?

What TBs are you running. Have you balanced them?

Plug leads on the correct coil pack posts and spark plugs??.

Mine was a bit rough after I had fiddle all sorts of bits...
I made sure all the earths from the ecu went down to the ground cable on the block, that stops any talking upsetting the ecu.
And, not convinced but put a brand new set of spark plugs in and that sorted it out!

It maybe a ground but I am concerned that I have stuffed the coil pack...

I would do what Ian suggested - double check your plug leads to coil pack.
The Answer for everything, but never the last word....

Leads should be ok.. I didn't remove them.....

That is where I would start and check 1 & 2 plug leads are connected to give the correct firing order.

Well guys everyone who said throttle body balancing take a huge pat on the back and treat yourself to a beer. The symptoms just didn't point to
this but thinking about it now it does make sense... I have individual throttle bodies... and the throttle cable was being replaced because it had
snapped. I was starting it using the linkage at the throttle bodies... each of the throttle bodies have balancing screws and clips .... It turns out I
had opened the butterfly's pulling the middle linkage which meant the clip jumped changing the stop position on cylinders 1 & 2. Reset the
clip and it now runs great....
Yep what a plank!
