2.0 Silver Zetec And Sierra Gearbox
Hi All,
For some reason when I search, I just get error pages so sorry if this has been covered before.
I have a 2.0l Zetec Silver top with what I believe is a Sierra Gearbox. (Anyway I can find out type etc?)
Couple of questions.
1. What is the best starter and any spacing needed etc?
2. What is the transmission made of, cast? So I guess cn be welded etc?
Cheers!

I had a 1.8 silver top with a type 9 sierra box
and use a starter motor from a 1.6 Sierra.
Not sure what type of engine the 1.6 Sierra
Will have been but it works on mine and I've
Just swapped to a 2.0 silver top. I had to file
a bit off the standard sump for it to fit and I
Use a lightened flywheel from Dunnel, but
would assume a standard zetec flywheel
would be OK. Best check that tho!

Was the clash with the sump where the starter mates with the bell housing or the body of the starter?
I only started the car once before I stripped it, it sounded off starting.
I used to recondition starters, alternators etc so not to worried.

From memory (was a while ago) it was catching
the body of the starter. I assume the 1.6 starter
has a narrower body than the larger engined Sierras.
