x flow rebuild
hi all
just got me engine back from having the block done (re bore) and crank reground) looks like a good job done so now got to rebuild it all .
quite a lot to replace as all needed sorting it's a 1600cc x flow so it is a simple rebuild now . I have got the bottom end put back together
today . I may have quite a lot of questions to ask soon as I am no mechanic but all seams to be going ok at the mo . my main ask will be how do I do
the electrics side of things as my car has a bike engine at the moment to witch will be up for sale soon and all things to go with it but I have to
sort loom from bike to car engine and I am not sure of where to start will get there I think but will take time . I will be offering all parts soon
regards ian

Good news is that it's a lot simpler to get the engine going, if you use carbs and no flashy electronic stuff Mate. You could just use a
distributor and coil and you'd be away I Ran Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts for years back in the day, and they were great to work on and easy to fix if
anything went wrong.
Just get a haynes for any of the crossflow vehicles and Robert's your Mother's Brother

If you haven't already done so fit a competition sump gasket, the cork type WILL leak.

My 1300 x flow is now on a Valencia type distributor and coil so that it does away with the points. Worth going that route if you can source the
parts. Also well worth getting a copy of Rebuilding and Tuning Ford X flow and Pinto Engines by Peter and John Wallage if you can. This details the
Valencia dizzy as well as loads more.

Accuspark have a wide range of point free distributors. I'll be ordering one shortly for my 1300 on twin 40s.

The electronic distributer is easy to fit the wiring is not that much different and the Ford dizzie is a pain in the neck, low quality, particularly
the contact breaker points gap is very prone closing up.
