4-1 Exhaust collector
Does anyone have a good solution for stopping a 4-1 exhaust manifold collector from vibrating and making a horrible noise when being revved? I have
tried the trick of using cheap silicon to seal it up, which worked for a bit, but has started doing it again now!
Next step is to weld the thing up completely?
Thanks
Matt

Err, they are like folder metal that you bolt up and they crush down to size.. Can help with a bit of movement..

but the pipes go inside each other, so wouldn't work!

try heatproof/intumescent sealant.

I cut the outer pipe in 2 places and used a large Miklor clamp
You can use the white exhaust sealer as that expands with use

When I start building my exhaust, I plan to use a spring and tags to hold the pipes in the collector, it normally works OK.

Hi Matt! What is holding it together at the moment? Springs? Tabs?
I only have two fairly strong springs on mine. It doesn't rattle at all.

at the moment it has 2 tags with a split pin though the middle. The pipes do not try and separate, but they resonate like mad!
Might try some of that fire place type sealant. The normal exhaust type paste goes off hard and then cracks and falls out from my experience.
I don't have enough room to get individual clamps around the pipes

Fireplace cement goes hard and falls out as well. Revving the log burner up to 300°c doesn't help...

I think im just going to end up welding it together and being done with it, got to be the best way!
