Tin top : Clutch judder
I am getting quite a lot of "judder" around the bite point on my little polo. Seems to be getting worse to the point where the whole car
shakes if the clutch and RPM are at specific positions... the clutch doesn't slip on normal driving... Is this a clutch wear issue or could it
be something else? Worn flywheel etc?
Im guessing that I am going to have to change the clutch but wanted to be sure there isn't something else at play here?

I finding the same thing on my MX5 around the bite point. Will keep an eye on the replies to this topic.

Most likely causes are oil/fluid contamination of the driven plate, cracked/distorted pressure plate spring/diaphragm, faulty release bearing. A worn
dual-mass flywheel (if it has one) is a possibility though they usually rattle rather than judder. A cracked or warped flywheel could cause it but it
rare.
Either way the box has to come off to change the clutch and find the cause.

Hmm, I guess a leaking seal on the crank or input shaft could cause contamination?! I know i can get the box out, gravity makes getting it back in
again a little harder!

A cracked diapragn spring (or worn fingers) is the most likely these days. Look for any uneven fingers on the spring before unbolting the cover. Oil
less so now as seals have got better and if it was that you'd see some oil aroung the bellhousind the engine face.

All of the above, a distorted driven plate is another possibility but check the engine mounts and also the front suspension bushes and ball joints
before stripping the gearbox out.

What age is the polo as early ones suffer from pedal boxes and bulkheads cracking aswell .
