Zetec thermostat
Hi guys,
This may have been covered a million times but just wondered if there is any difference in a silvertop themostat housing too a black top?
Have managed to snap the thin outlet and need too replace.
Is it a straightforward swap? What about the thermostat sensor and stat intself or will i need new ones?
Thanks

I think you will find that the blacktop housing is plastic and the sensors clip in whereas the silvertop I had, had an alloy housing with screw in
fittings.

Ok thats fine but the sensor would still presumably run on the old loom

The only Oem alloy housing was on the 1992 and 1993 Orion / Escort and are über rare.
The rest are all plastic. From a Mondeo to the Focus Rs.
There are differances though. The early ones are thicker plastic and better quality. The last of the focus housings are rubbish with thin plastic that
split and leak. Early ones had screw in sensors mid life they had push in sensors end of life they had no sensors as the coolant sensor was in the
head between exhaust ports 1 and 2.
