Header Tank Question
Hi guys,
What issues would arise from piping a header tank to a top hose rather than bottom?
My plan is top hose between thermostat and rad. Bottom hose between pump and rad. Rad 8mm bleed pipe to top of header tank. Bottom of header tank to
either stop piece top hose or t piece bottom hose.
All sound correct apart from the header tank connection question?
Many thanks all!!

Top hose to header tank is used to purge air, usually from highest point on system to highest point on header tank.
Lowest connection on header usually to a level well below the other, not necessarily at the very bottom. This hose will dump coolant back to the
system when coolant cools down with engine off.
Beware of what you wish.. for it may come true....

If its for a zetec ? Do your self a favour and stick to tried and tested. A little more plumbing now could save you no end of hassle later.

Hi ya,
Was changing to the following as seems like what most have done.
Thermostat top hose to top rad
Water pump bottom hose to bottom rad
Thermostat bleed outlet to header tank top port
T piece in bottom hose with pipe to header tank bottom.
All sound good?
Cheers!!

There should be a second “T” in the bottom hose for the thermostat bypass.

Perfect, all understood.
Anyone know if the polo header tank is a pressure relief or not?
Many thanks all.
