Weber 2V(TLD) Carb & Electric fuel pump

A two part question concerning a carburated 2 litre DOHC Ford sierra engine, carburettor a Weber 2V(TLD).....

Part one, the existing setup had an in-tank fuel pump with send and return pipework, the carb has two connections.

Using that carb can I block off one of the connections and pump "dead end mode" into it?, ie no return to tank pipework.

Part 2, using a facet red top electric pump, do I need any form of pressure regulation/reduction for this pump and the Weber carb, or will the pressure be OK (think the pressure will be between 4 & 5 psi)

Thanks JohnN
