Crank centreline

Currently My engine is angled very slightly (approx 5 degrees) downwards towards the front of the car.

Is this going to cause me any problems, or should I look at bringing it back to horizontal?

Thanks

Stephen

What engine is it, some engines work at quite a slop with the front end raised.

By the look of you photos its a zetec. Best is to mount at an angle close to that of donor car.

2 important points.

The first is that the sump oil feed most be fully submerg, to much angle and the oil could flow away from it.
The second is that the crankshaft does not want to be in contact with the oil. It can put strain on the crank and bearings it they get submerged.

middle, and it's flat (chopped).

Think I'm going to put some plates under the mounts to raise it up to flat.

Mine is also down at the front and over to the left. Did it like this so I could use a Mondeo (large) oil filter. I've got a Dunnel sump which uses baffle plates. Mines been fine for the first 3500 miles of mixed use.

You could always try moving the oil pick up to the front to be on the safe side.

5° is not going to be an oil pickup problem, or you would get low oil pressure every time you went up/down a mild incline.

The only problem I can see is the prop. The input angle shoud equal the output angle, but I am not sure what the results of a mild missmatch would be

If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

Aye - the prop is something that's worrying me a little - the top of the gearbox is getting rather close to the top of the tranny tunnel.(can't take pic at the moment as the car is full of cr#p I need to put away but can't because the car is in the way)

Can anyone shed any light? (Car is a live axle beast, btw)
