Cosworth V6

Not sure if this is in the right place or should be a poll but.....
Me and My dad are at loggerheads!

My dads been offered a runninng Cosworth V6 believed to be around 100k miles with all the ancilaries for £150.
Would people say it is worth all the effort to convert to this engine from a 140bhp Pinto?
I am presuming it would be heavier, need a different gearbox? complicated on the electronics, maybe even needing a megasquirt and a nightmare should anything go wrong!

But maybe i'm a pessamist.

Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

Superb engine! But not really for a locost, very heavy (similar weight to the 2.9 12v engine) and yes, the std electronics are not that easy to sort unless you have the complete "front end" wiring loom from the scorpio, as the later engines had the FI loom combined into the main loom.

I's stick with what you have, but buy the engine and sell it to someone with a capri!

Would add about 50kg to your car. Huge thing so might be rather hard to shoehorn in without chassis mods, and would need a V6 box. Already has EDIS 6 so would be relatively easy to megasquirt up if you couldn't use the standard ecu.

Aah turbo the pinto instead.

Well i think that has about confirmed i'm thinking rationally!

Big respect to Liam on the Honda V6, thats the other engine on my dads wishlist!

I think the problem is my dads used to being a lazy driver with a 2.0 car everyday whereas i drive a 1.1 fiesta and works vans so am used to having 2 rev them hard.

Are we ever likely to get the bottom end shove for lazy driving back with twin 40's, FR32 cam, gasflowed head and lighter flywheel. and soon to be megasquirt to get the advance and retard back?
