Sump Modification
I have a pinto 2.0 and want to lower the engine by modifying the engine mounts, but this will also mean reducing the height of the sump to gain
ground clearance. Can someone tell how htis is done or can you pruchase premodified sumps from somewhere. The overall purpose is toreduce the bonnet
line so that I do not have to make huge bonnet buldges to clear the cam cover and carb linkages.
Ps tried searching but did not find much on this subject.

It has been covered before, but in with other threads.
IIRC the idea is to remove about 2-3" from the lowest part of the sump. When welding in the new bottom, extend it back the full length of the
sump to regain some of the lost capacity. You will need to baffle the sump though as it will then be flat bottomed.
You will also need to shorten the sump pick up pipe.
Also remember you can move the oil filler cap on the rocker cover, to the back of the cover to make it easier to fit the bonnet.
IIRC MK will modifiy your sump and pick up pipe for you....
Hope that makes sense...
