pre pump filter issue
I've ordered a load of bits ffrom think auto and was going to order a low pressure, pre injection pump filter (i have a high pressure filter
afterwards).
The bosch injection pump i plan to use has a 12mm inlet so i need something to fit between my header tank and the bosch pump. thinkauto don't do
a filter with 12mm tails, has anyone else got one with 12mm tails or have you used a 3/8" one with a straight hose adapter (3/8-1/2" is
available, then 13mm -12mm with rubbber hose and clamps?) or should i fit the low pressure filter before my header tank after the low pressure
pump?
diagram of the layout i'm using here:
http://www.sbdev.co.uk/Info_sheets/Fuel_injection%20_Set_up_instructions/1.6-1.4%20Taper%20Instructions%20Print%20ALL/16_14_swirl_pot.htm
but with 5/16" (8mm) push fit hoses instead spending a mint on jic connectors! (apart from header tank to injection pump obviously)
Ned.

Can you fit a filter inside the tank or swirl pot ? --- either a puka sock filter or a simple screen filter over the end of the suction tube. The
beauty of fitting a filter here is it is to an extent self cleaning.

I use a Bullet motorsport pre filter. I got mine from Burtons, and if i remember correct they come in different in/out options, mine is 12mm both
ends. Only problem is they are £50+, but are well made and have a cleanable filter.

Cheap solution is a prefilter designed to go in the feed line for a Bosch pump!
Only problem is that the only car I know of that has one is an Opel Manta GTE. Worth trying your vauxhall dealer to see if they still do them but I
doubt it, otherwise post a wanted ad on www.mantaclub.com on the forum. I have one but I think I will be using that!
Another alternative that I recently discovered which is VERY neat is a bosch pump from an earlyish (dunno the year) Peugeot 405 running fuel
injection. They had the usual bosch pump with push on inlet and outlet, but the inlet has an integral mesh filter in it just inside the 12mm hose
barb.
I know this because I now have one on my grasser following an in-race failure of my old pump, a fellow competitor donated me the pug pump and I
noticed the filter mesh.
The later 405's seem to have in tank pumps though, so I think the filtered Bosch ones are pretty rare!
