Cortina exhaust manifold Q.
Im trying to make an exhaust downpipe for my 2.0 pinto engined ZR. Engine sits further back so there not a lot of room. I have some downpipes (very
kindly donated by Banaman and Conrodkid) that will probably work with a bit of modding.
My question is that i have been told the Cortina and early capri manifolds exit more vertically and closer to the middle of the manifold. This will
give more room to work with. I have just got a Cortina manifold off a 1.6 pinto. Im not near the car right now so was hoping someone can confirm if
the 1.6 Cortina manifold will fit the 2.0 engine (mine is injected head)?
Will i suffer power loss? If so is it worth porting the manifold to match the head or will i be wasting my time?
For info the head has been mildly ported, it is the injection version and has 285 Kent cam. Engine is stock standard and ill be running a 38DGAS
carb.
Cheers,
Darren.

cast iron single outlet header
absolutely no point in trying to match it
as it is so restrictive.
get a twin outlet sierra one as a minimum or better still a set of bananas

Thanks - i was hoping you wouldntsay that but had a funny feeling about it
Ive been told twin outlet Sierra ones flows quite good for a std manifold. Unfortunately it is a tw4t to get the pipes in the right place so they dont
foul anything. Im trying to get the pipes to exit downwards or better still slightly forward and then down the front side of the engine mount - not
easy. At least i have the kindly donated pipes so this will make it a lot easier. The tricky bit is getting the 2 into 1 section to be narrow enough
and to bend them round. Ill suss it im sure.
Set of bananas is £325 in stainless. Too rich for me right now. Its on my future mods list.
