exhaust manifold primary pipes

does anyone know if the overall length of the primary pipes is crutial or as long as they are all the same length is it o.k as i would like to alter a tubular manifold any advice would be welcome

Well

it depends on what you want to archieve with you engine curve....

in general if you take bigger size tube...

you will need more revs to generate power...

and if you make the distance longer the same....

the exhaust you should see as an extra 'pulling' / vacumm device wich helps filling in the cilinder with clean gasses..
(valve overlapping)....

soow the faster the gasses go in the pipe at low rpm the filling will be good at that rpm...but at high rpm it will be to much pulling...

my advice...

stick with its diameter..

and if you engine has allot of BHP then make them a bit longer..

then you will lose some BHP but will gain some N/M at lower revs and when pulling away its an nice surprise...
