Ignition Zetec+Carbs

Hello,

We have a 2.0ltr Zetec engine from 2001, we want to use it for racing with twin 40 dcoe Weber carbs, we don't have the computer, so does anyone know how to connect the electrics for ignition etc. etc. or what we need to get it all working?

Thanx.

Michel.

The best/cheapest way is to use the megajolt system. Do a search for it on here. its been discussed many times before with all the details.

seem to remember someone saying about a cvh flywheel and crank position sensor. The ECU to go with it and an EDIS module for simple 2D ignition on the cheap.

yup look here:

How much do you want to spend ?

The alpha ecu is well respected and comes with a base map that will get you up and running .It proberly wouldnt even need re-maping from what ive been told untill you start to change the cams and other bits.It comes with the loom and instructions so should be an easy, trouble free way to go...BUT...It is going to cost you about £500...
The megajolt is a bit harder to achieve but will give you big savings..About £100
This link will tell you what you need to know about this diy ecu..

You can go even lower in price using esc ford ecu from an early fiesta/escort but that will limit power to about 135 bhp approx.....The standard ecu from the mondeo/focus will be of no use what so ever. It has the anti theft system that will be more bother than its worth to bi-pass and its designed to run the whole car even the delay on the cabin lights and the ignition curve will be designed for all ocasions inclueding towing a caravan.

Swings and round-abouts
