2.5 V6 Mondao engine - Gearbox??

I have been offered a 2.5 V6 24 valve mondao engine which is of course front wheel drive. Can this engine be mated to a V6 MT75 or Type 9? If not what would it go to to convert it to a RWD.

Thanks in advance.

wait till someone else gives you an answer but i think this is the first of the bellhousings that don't use the standard type 9 pattern. Its a mazda engine therefore custom bellhousing.

Hope i'm wrong as i think they're great engines.

I did seroiusly considered doing this but at the time no one was doing an "off the shelf" bell housing.

However the Morgan uses the Duratec V6 which is supplied as a new crate engine and GBX from Power torque Engineering.

I think the GBX is a Jag part.

It may be the same as a duratec. There are people who sell RWD duratec conversions. Contact one of them to see if it will fit.

the V6 in my Mondeo (new shape 2001 model ) is a duratorq. Does this make a difference?

From what I remember the V6 does not match the I4 Duratec bolt pattern or I would have gone with the V6.

No offence sir but did it cross your mind to type into the search option 'duratec v6' ??

Just a little bit of time would reveal your options.

Have a look HERE

More importantly the pistonheads power torque link in that thread.

A New Jag box 'should' mate up to it in reality.

No definate confirmation of the mx3/mx5 gearbox options yet.

well if you can persuade irvined he's got a mx-5 engine sitting doing nothing. Shouldn't be that hard to get a large bit of card with the bolt holes marked on it......

Looking at the Power Torque site, it would seem that the Morgan uses the V6 Duratec, mated to an MT75 inline special box, using custom bellhousing.

The boxes are built by Mitchell Cotts using Mt75 innards in a case casting set of their own.

Mitchell Cotts had a warehouse with over 100,000 Type 9's waiting for rebuild, the last time I spoke to them!
