2.8V6 Cologne - Shortening sump
What is a sensible maximum to reduce the sump depth by on a V6 cologne to allow lower mounting.
I ask as I am too idle to take mine off to look at this stage.
I presume that if I did shorten it I would have to add volume elsewhere to retain the oil volume.
Any ideas most welcome.
Phil.

the sump is no bigger than the lower part of the bell housing, if you cut it down the bell housing would prevent the engine from mounting any lower. I
think this applys to the 2.8 as my engine is a 2.9

alistair is correct
I have added a picture http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/xmb/photos/cgi-bin/showpic.pl?12.jpg that you can just make out the bottom of the bellhousing
is at a similar level to the bottom of the sump.

putting in a booster cushion ......
so I can see over the bonnet bulge I will need. I think it will be around 4 inches abover the bonnet line.
