Automatic chalk

Gents – Can anybody give me a quick run down of how the automatic chalk works on a 1.6 weber????
I am using the loom off a 1.8 model, which had a Pierburg and is somewhat a tad different!!

Thanks

chokes do vary a bit but you should have 2 water unions,one in and one out,some were electric,1 wire to the coil + side,some 1.8 i think had lots of wires going to a stepper motor,bin that carb straight away,btw peirburg=crap
webber =good

depending on the year of the weber & what car it came off of you might also have a fuel cut of soleniod to wire in.

As regards the loom, don't even try connection it up to your carb.

More details on the carb you are fitting will be required.

Also is the engine you are fitting a 1.6/1.8/2.0?

Enjoy.

As I mentioned the carb is off a 1988 1.6 but the loom is out of a 1987 1.8 which had the Pierburg fitted. I am now stuck with this configuration and will have to make the most of what I have available to me. So any help will be appreciated!!!!!!

Thanks

Yep as you said in the firstr post 1.6 carb 1.8 loom.

Now then I can only assume that the Engine (that the carb is going onto) is comming from the same car as the loom and then that means that that size of the engine is also a ditto. In that case my dear watson the that will mean that you are intending to fit the carb from a 1.6 ford (ford pinto?) onto a 1.8 ford (ford pinto or ford CVH). If this is the case then you WILL need to take the carb to a specialist for re-jetting & calibration because the demands that the 1.8 will put on it as is will be to great. Yes OK it will run BUT it WILL have flat spots ,poor top end, poor pulling abilities and just not be very good all round. AND while your at the specialist just get him to confirm what if any special connections will be required.
The last bit he should be able to do for nowt.

Enjoy.
