keep the injection or twin40s
i have just got a 2ltr pinto 205 injection
engine.it is in good condtion i dont plan to tune it .so should i keep the injection or bin it and fit the twin 40s
i have built a mcsorley 442 chasis so i think it will fit with the standard injection

Given that Dave does not intend tuning his engine, I would have thought that retaining the EFi would be his best option. I have read elsewhere on here
that the manifold/plenum chamber can be cut and altered to get the whole contraption under the bonnet of an MK Indy.
Is the McSorley as tall as the Indy?
If height is a problem then maybe sidedrafts will be the way to go. On a standard Pinto engine twin 40's will be quite adequate. Jon's response ref:
45's or 48's would be correct if the engine was to be tuned. Carbs need to be the right size, neither too small or too big.

Fitting 45,48 etc to a 2.0l pinto is a waste of time. You will only flow at the rate of the head at 6ooo rpm and hence see no additional power over a
pair of 40,s with 33/34 mm chokes. Believe me ive done it. I have seen (with rr evidence) tuned pintos on 40 producing upto about 150-155 bhp. The big
difference is you cant go for a high rev cam because you run out of puff, say 6500. As a good bit of advice if you want throttle response you allways
fit the smallest chokes which permit full power.
P.s I picked up a 2l injection and ditched the injection replacing it with dellorto 40s and an aldon dizzy. Works very well for an otherwise standard
engine
I would only consider 45 for over 150 bhp output...............

I would go for 45s, because with the smallest chokes (35mm iirc), it'll be fine for an otherwise untuned engine, but will give the option to upgrade
later without the expense of new carbs to add into the equation (they will require rejetting though). They're barely more expensive, if at all
anyway).
If you have absolutely no intention of ever tuning it, then 40s would be ok and with 36mm chokes would take you to around 6500 rpm, but then why
bother with expensive side draughts anyway?.

fair point, i missed the "standerd" engine bit, but even so how long will it stay standard ?, i would still go 45's min for futre
use..............
