big lump = big hole in pocket?

Is it worth replacing my 1300 x-flow with a 1600?
The 1300 is yet to be fully installed, and I know the swap is pretty simple, but I was wondering if the 1600s are expensive and/or hard to come by.
Anyone got a rough idea of the going rate for one?

Last 1600 I've seen for sale was one in my local scrappy 3 months or so a go. It was in a rear damaged Mk2 that had just arrived, ran very well and the owner of the scrappy said he'd sold it over the phone "as is" for £150 within an hour of opening. He said he wished he had a dozen 'cos he'd have sold 'em all in 24 hours, he was offered £250 to forget the phone buyer.

Not seen one since then really, best thing to do is keep an eye out in the local paper. Maybe find one who's owner doesn't realise what its worth There was an ad in my local offering an abandoned Fiesta MK1 project for free, just come and collect. Doesn't sound like a bargain I know, but it had a 1600 crossflow and twin side Webers. It'd gone pretty quickly the oldish sounding lady said on the phone, she sounded astounded that so many people wanted an old Fiesta that'd been stood for 6 years

Get the paper early and practice speed-dialling is the moral of this story

Hi All,

Just spotted this:-

Dutton SIERRA 1600 OHV. In need of new home and lots of tender loving care. £75 New owner to collect. 0161 345 3696. Ask for Mel or Val (Oldham, Lancs)

Chuck the rest away!!

The Fiesta engine( being FWD) isn't a bolt on job.

Maybe so, but if I'd got it for nowt I'm more than willing to drill/tap 4 holes for another engine mounting
