R1 Throttle bodies?
Can any one shed some light on how to identify R1 throttle bodies, I’m looking at fitting a set T/B’s to a Zetec 1.8 and after looking on e-bay I am a
bit confused, I was led to believe that R1 were individual T/B so that you could adjust the spacing but the ones iv seen on e-bay don’t seam to be
this type of construction (this could be poor photos or me not looking in the right place). Should I be looking for a particular year /model or is
their any other T/B’s worth looking for? Any help would be appreciated.
Richard.

No, non of the throttle bodies/carbs are seperate....if you think about it they can't be as there's a spindle down the middle of all of
them to operate the boutterflies and a fuel rail too....R1's are favoured for a couple of different reasons...they are quite easy to seperate in
the way you describe by lengthening the spindle and fuel rail, they come with a TPS attached and more importantly they're a proven item so no
risk of it not working! Personnally I think that because of this last reason they are going for more than they're worth now a days. I'm
planning on fitting something different. As to choke sizes 42mm seems a tad overkill....big chokes = more horsepower (great on track) but slightly
smaller chokes with longer manifold tubes gives better torque and spread so better for road use. You need to decide what the car is used for then buy
throttle bodies and manifolds to suit....Oli.
If your not living life on the edge you're taking up too much room!

Thanks for the information, do you know of any tuning books on the Zetec, Any thing that would go into depth with reference to T/B and manifolds? My
intention is to use the car as a road car and would like plenty of get up and go but nothing to crazy.
