VX inlet manifolds, oone for Ned?

Hi all,

Does anyone know if its possible to get different shape (i.e. less angled) inlet manifolds for a Vx 2L 16 Valve? I need one that sits the carbs lower than the top of the rocker cover to fit under the bonnet.

Cheer

as far as i'm aware there are 3 designs.

1.) caterham manifold, doesn't flow so well, mounts carbs higher.

2.) swindon/sbd manifold flows well, less angle (call sbd for more info i guess)

3.) a 7 degree manifold for when the engine is mounted at its natural 7 degree tilt towards the exhaust.

other variations are 'dry' or 'wet' ie whether it has a water jacket on it (there are two holes from the waterjacket on the head to the right of the manifold/inlet)

this is an sbd jacketed manifold, i think it is one of the lower designs, though I don't have one (yet!) so can't measure it, sorry!

That looks quite straight to me, and would therefore mount the carbs low.
Any idea what the Yukspeed one is like?
Do I need a water jacketed one?

i don't know whether you need a jacketed one or not to be honest, i guess it will aid cooling. (sbd have a digram of a cooling system on their site)

I'm afraid I've not seen the yukspeed one, so couldn't comment on it's design. Most of the manifolds I've seen have used a 'YAZ' casting and have had the yaz logo (yaz in and upside down triangle) between pots 2 & 3. both the swindon and caterham (different design) manifolds are yaz casts, so perhaps you could check for this? I believe though am not 100% that sbd use Titan for a lot of their castings (eg bellhousing, which incidentally you can get cheapest [i think] from rallynuts)

So I need to keep away from the 'Yaz' ones?

Rallynuts? do they have a web site?

Cheers

Vx inlet manifolds

The vauxhall manifold tht yukspeed sells IS the SBD straight manifold. The only difference is that yukspeed sells it CHEAPER!.
I've got this on my xe with 45 Dellorto's and the carbs are 1/2" lower than the top of cam cover.
In my MK there is a good 2" of clearance between top of engine and bonnet.
Hope this solves your problem.
If you want to see the installation I'll be at Harrogate show in a couple of weeks.

just to finish what i was saying (thanks for the info skippad) the swindon one is a low one and flows well, stay clear of the caterham types as theses arre probably too high.

rallynuts do have a website, www.rallynuts.com
