Twin 40 weber carbs

Got my car running using 1.8 zetec and twin 40's carbs refurbed have new jets etc, when the throttle is depressed lightly the car revs when hit hard the engine dies any ideas ??

All jets supplied were supposedly for this engine set up

Pump jet may be ? any ideas

Carbs were balanced and emmisions set

Hi There,

From my own experience of a Pinto on Dellorto DHLA's it could be one of many things. Top candidates could be

Lack of ignition advance.
Carbs out of balance.
Wrong jetting.

First point of call for me would be to make sure the ignition advance is right.

Of course it could also be all three.....

The only way to get it set up properly is on a rolling road.

I've got mine running better just by messing but its booked in for a session on the rollers at the end of the month.
