Where to put fuel pump?
Im fitting Bogg Bro's R1 carb set up onto a pinto and using the supplied R1 fuel pump.
Does it matter if i put the pump in the engine bay or should i put it near the tank in the rear?

The rear is favourite, most bike pumps prefer to push, I had problems when I fitted mine to the front, works fine now next to the tank.

If I recall the optimum position for a fuel pump,is no more than about 18" from the tank.

i always put them at the back. Alans was at the front and it broke last week, no idea if that caused it but i intend to keep putting them at the back!

Mines under the diff at the back with a filter between it and the tank. That way the petrol flows into the pump. I'm using a ZX9R pump at the
back with Blogg brothers inlet and R1 carbs, just the same as yours.
My last kit car, Striker ZX9R had the pump at the front though. Everyone now says it should be at the back pushing rather than sucking

The reason for fitting the pump at the rear and as low as possible is threefold
(1) It reduces any restriction in pump suction line
(2) Put the pump in a cool area away from engine heat.
(3) Put a positive static pressure head on the pump inlet.
All three reasons have the object of preventing vapour lock in the fuel system.
Vapour lock will cause the engine to cut out in warm weather.

Anyone got any pics of just how and where they've mounted their BEC fuel pump, obviously from this thread the rear is the best place. I'd
like to put it somewhere that offers a little protection from a rear end shunt.
