as it turns the correct way after removing the auxilerias that arnt used, use the 20l but you need to put in an extra pully

Water Pump

The Escort version of the 1.8 litre water pump has the water connection spigot at a better angle for connecting to the radiator coolant pipe than the 1.8 Mondeo version.

You would need to replicate the Ford serpentine system to get the pump to spin the right way on 2.0.

For some bizzare reason old Henry decided to build two versions of the same engine with pumps going in opposite directions!

The 1.8 pump spins in the same direction as the crank as opposed to the 2.0 that spins in the opposite direction.

Then Henry went on to redesign the blacktop zetec water pump so you have to use the extra pulley and the 1.8 swop stops being an option.

Make sure you get a 1.8 escort zetec water pump and not the mondeo 1.8 water pump. The difference is between escort and mondeo, not between 1.8 and 2.0

2.0 zetec was never used in escort, that's all.

So if you have a 1.8 mondeo zetec you have to do all the same to it as you have to do to a 2.0 unit.

So if you go for a 1.8 unit, make sure you get a escort one, saves a lot of trouble.
