Propshaft a bit short.

Just got my prop back with sliding joint & TRT but when it's bolted in there is only about 5mm of available travel left on the sliding joint out of a possible 40mm. I can either go back to the reconditioner & get him to extend it 15mm or make up a couple of 8mm spacers to fit between the flanges.
Would that be acceptable from a safety viewpoint.

How much travel do you need? is 5mm not enough? If your diff is fixed and your engine is fixed, there isn't going to be much movement? For piece of mind, a spacer might do. I'm not at all sure though.

If you've got the facility to turn them I'd go with the spacers on the flanges personally.IMHO

If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

Short answer is I'm not sure if 5mm is enough but I'd rather the slider be somewhere nearer the middle of it's travel if it's an easy fix.

Suspect you mean that the slider is only engaging with the gearbox shaft by 5mm? If that is the case then I suspect it will not last very long .

Get it remade, you know it's the sensible thing to do, especially as it'll be spinning at 6000+rpm on occassions
