Roller/high lift rockers
Hi everyone, has anyone used high lkift roller rockers on the crossflow? Whats the difference to just having a high lift cam? Does the wear of the
tappets reduce that much or is it just a myth?
I know they are expensive but is there any realistic gain towards them?

i would say no unless its for track use are you lookng at the piper one on ebay ? you would need a a9 cosworth cam or something like it to use it but
it would be no good for normal road use.

If anything the cam and tappets (i.e. cam followers) will wear more with high lift rockers as the forces on them will be higher.
The advantage of the roller rockers is that it eliminates sideways forces on the valve stem, which can become quite large with high valve lifts and
cause premature guide wear.

Yes, I used them on my Hillclimb/Sprint x-flow Striker to uprate the 1FR4 Kent rally cam. It saves taking the engine out to fit a different cam, but
if I was doing it again I probably wouldn't bother; I would just select a higher lift, longer duration cam to begin with.
High lift rockers can really only be used with moderate valve lift cams (10-11mm max) otherwise you'll run into coil binding problems with your
valve springs and other horrors.
