rover k 1.4 cams.

Hello,I have a early 1.4 k engine with alloy manifold and mpi,I understand the cams are not so good,so can I fit ones from later engine or are they differences in other than profiles,have seen a pair from a zr120, but I am unsure of dizzy end fitting,ps.my engine is 1994 ish,Thanks for any info as i am a old crossflow man trying to come out of the 60s and into the 90s,Ray.

You need the cams from a multipoint injection engine built between aprrox 1995 and 1999.
After that coil packs replaced the distributer and other changes were made.
To be sure look for a 214Sei -- they all had the 104ps engine.



If you put the two types side by side on the bench difference in the cam is visible to the naked eye, the later hotter cams have fatter lobes that are less "pointy".

It is actually possible to insert the dizzy rotor arm drive peg into the post 1999 cams but it iseasier to get the right part.

Post 1995 engines also have a better design of cylinder head -- see Dave andrews site.

These are really easy engines to do major work on but following book overhaul procedures is a must.
