Fuel Pump

Hi!

I was thinking of removing the mechanical pump form my engine (Ford 1.3GT cross flow), but I don't now what electrical pump I can use.

What kind of pump should I use. Where can I get it?

Best Regards
SC

A Facet solid-state pump has been fine on our crossflow for the last 2 years, no problems at all.

As for where to get one from, I have mine that I've removed, dirty and used but working fine.

£10 plus postage ?

I'll send you the blanking plate for the block too if you like

You'll need a pressure regulator for the Facet pump, they create too much pressure for carbs and will probably flood it.

That is unless its the lowest spec pump, which you may just get away with. Carbs really only need 1-2psi at most.

The pump I have is carb-specific, This one, I've never had a problem running my DGAV Weber.
It's rated at 2.5-3 psi, I also have the mounting kit with the rubber "bobbins" to go with it.

They sell for £25.20 plus £4.50 for the mounting kit.

We swapped the 1.3 for a 1.6GT ages ago, but took the crossflow out altogether this weekend to swap for a Zetec. I reckon it will be cheaper fitting a Zetec than a rebore and new pistons for the crossflow, which is what it looks like it needs.

Edited to add, a motorbike fuel pump will work too you don't need an expensive aftermarket job, and you might be able to find one cheap locally

Sorry to report, it's been sold/given away to the bloke who bought our old carb and manifold.

I never told my brother about your interest, so he used his initiative and had a bit of a clearout ;(

I reckon your best best would be a bike fuel pump, I switched to one for the bike carb conversion, and used it for a couple of weeks with the weber carb until I'd sorted the bike carbs and it ran perfectly.

It was only a tenner or so on ebay.

Why ?The AC Mechanical pump used on the xflow is very reliable and more than up to the job.

Basically because I welded the "R" tube on without trying the engine in and when I finally did I realized the mechanical fuel pump wouldn't fit.
