Phase 3 Zetec, MT75 Starter

Hi All, sort of getting there with the engine and trans for the mgb.
1.8 Focus Zetec (two peice sump) MT75 box, but what starter, Sierra CVH part number LRS0707 keeps cropping up, anyone got a picture of one, or can tell me the diameter of the body?
The DOHC starter definately wont fit, fould the ground down sump side, holding the flange about 5mm off the gearbox.

A tip for alternator belt tensioning, keep the pulley off the aircon unit, it has a lovely big centre and a sealed bearing, turn up a new centre with an offset hole and you have an eccentric adjuster.
Cheers.
Pete.

go to a motor factors and ask to see the valeo alternitive starter motor - the last one i brought for my kitcar - the body of the starter was alot slimmer than the original.

Hi Pete,

As you are using the two piece sump i believe it is standard practice to grind away the webbing to allow the DOHC starter to fit.

Yep,
ground as much as I dare off the intemediate sump, the lower flange to the tin sump is in the way. No wat the twink motor will fit and maintain the sump seal.
Think its a day off next week to trawl the factors for a thinner motor. Can always take what I have as a pattern of what I don't want.
Cheers.
Pete.
