Backfire when stopping engine
When ever I park up and stop my engine, it does a single backfire very loudly, which can be quite annoying.... any ideas what can cause this? Pinto

I used to get this problem - never did find out why it happened, as everything was operating as it should.
Eventually I took the exhaust wrap off because of some work I was doing - and it never popped again!
Very strange...

Unburnt fuel in the exhaust. Mine did this for a while till I gave it a bit more ignition advance.
More advance means that the fuel burns more completely and is not wasted - and gives a bit more power.
less advance can mean that the combustion is still taking place as the exhaust valves are opening which in turn causes the exhaust valves to get
hotter (and in very retarded cases the manifold can glow red) in these cases the engine will back fire after the ignition is turned off as the
partially burnt charge ignites as it leaves the combustion chamber by the exhaust port.

Supercat- were you braking in the avatar photo or do you run seriously little ride-height on the front of your car?
