Engine number

Just bought a replacement phase 2 silvertop zetec from the local scrappy as my current engine has a vibration at 3000rpm which I have failed to cure.
Engine number on the left block to bellhousing web is a poorly stamped 666666. No NGA as there should be and there should only be five numbers. Wrongly stamped replacement or what? Anyone any ideas? Have I been had?

Few of Fords replacement engines get there numbers transfered

Time is money for a garage and its a short cut that Jo punter wont see in his tin top.

Ive had three with no numbers at all, Talking to a guy last night and his was slapped on the head just above the thermostat.

Would doubt its dodgy unless there are signs of grinding to the block imho.

I would be very careful about fitting that engine as from the number it looks to be possed.

Marilyn Manson stamped the first 666 and Ozzy Osbourne the other 666; I would expect neither to have been a careful previous owner.

(unless you read it upside down in whcih case it is ok).
