Ford Fiesta
Has anyone used the 1600cc xflow from a front wheel drive 1978-80 Ford Fiesta. Is it the same as the Escort xflow 711m rear drive. Will it bolt up to
the same transmissions?? What clutch and flywheel. Tks Russ

But doesn't have the bosses cast into the block for the mountings unfortunately.
(The ones used in a RWD layout).

So I assume there is no locost way to put them in? Bugger! Crossflows are a bear to find in the States. Russ

but why put a crossflow, there must be plenty of v6 or v8 knocking around.

There are mounting bosses on the block - just not in the same places as on the RWD version! It's certainly worth having a look at an engine to
see if it's feasible to make engine mounts.

Should be straightforward to tap the holes in the block - it's the same casting. The only other issue is the spigot bearing in the crank - the
Fiesta doesn't have one.
The type 9 'box will fit with the correct clutch assy and flywheel. ISTR the sump is the other way round too giving a front bowl. I have one of
these and it works fine.

No reason why you can't fit it --- essentially it would be the same as fitting the 1600CVH --
On the other hand why no look for a Mazda donor.

I all ready have a Mazda MX5 Miata donor and the 1800cc engine and trans are just too big in all ways. I guess the guy who built my Locost liked
small, because even my 1300cc is tight. I still haven't ruled out the BEC route yet. But it has it's drawbacks especially with a 3.89 rear
end.
